The New Age Of Musicals

The acting scene has been revolutionized by the musical phenomena. Once popular in Bollywood films the trend is now spreading like wild fire even here in the US. Musicals are short movies which include dancing and singing to the actors roles. This means that musical actors should be good in all the three sectors so as to succeed. But most actors are not multi talented; someone who knows how to sing may be very poor on the dance floor and vice versa. Therefore musical actors hire trained dancers and singers to teach them how to perform these extra tasks with ease. The face to face training allows actors to ask the specialists many questions about dancing or acting so as to improve on their own skills.

However, some actors prefer going to dancing or singing schools to improve on their skills. This may be too expensive and attention to detail may miss because the trainers focus on many other people apart from you.

Musicals require the actors to be alerts all the time and also have the ability to balance the contrasting roles. A little slumber while shooting a musical can lead to confusion of the entire crew. For example; when you are expected to sing and you fail to do so the next speaking character may not know how to respond in such a situation.

A good musical actor should be joyful and ready to have fun. The dance and singing should not be forced out of the person but should resonate out of the actors’ personality. Forced actions will easily be noticed as the actor would lack rhythm, energy and style which are the key components of a musical.

Nevertheless, amidst all the dancing and singing an actor should not lose focus on the movie’s theme. Both dancing and singing should be meaningful actions that emphasize a particular point and not just done for the sake of performing.
